WWE Wrestlemania 26


The World of Wrestling Comes to Arizona


Wrestlemania 26, Fan Axxess and the WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony were some of the biggest Arizona events for 2010.

According to the Greater Phoenix Convention and Visitor's Bureau, over 100,000 visitors from around the world descended on the Phoenix area to attend World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Wrestlemania events during the last week of March 2010.

Local officials used the phrase "Destruction in the Desert" during their campaign to bring WWE to Arizona.

"Destruction in the Desert" became the official theme for Wrestlemania 26.

While Triple H, Edge, and D Generation X may sound like the names of household cleaners to some people, fans of WWE know them as just some of many Wrestlemania superstars they saw at this huge and popular annual event.

For those not in the know, Wrestlemania is considered the Super Bowl of the WWE.

While this professional wrestling main event takes place on one day, there are actually over a week's worth of activities:

Wrestlemania Events

1) WWE Raw presents Road to WrestleMania: Before WWE events got started in the Phoenix area, WWE superstars came to Tucson on Saturday, March 20, 2010, 7:30 pm (MST) at the Tucson Convention Center. There is no more just Monday Night Raw. Fans can now see live Raw Wrestling five times a week.

The line up for WWE Presents Raw Live in Tucson included: John Cena, Sheamus, The Big Show, MVP, The Miz, Mark Henry, Kofi Kingston, Jack Swagger, Carlito, Cody Rhodes, Ted DiBiase, Evan Bourne, Maryse, and many more.

WWE Presents Raw Live Ticket prices were $60, $40, $25 and $15.

2) WrestleMania Art: WWE Superstars, Divas and Legends walked the red carpet at 6:00 pm MST into the Intercontinental Montelucia Resort & Spa Scottsdale on Wednesday, March 24 at 6:00 pm MST.

Here, the artwork of WWE personalities was on display at this special fund raising event. There was also food, drinks and both live and silent auctions. Proceeds went to the Phoenix Children's Hospital and the Arizona Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The Intercontinental Montelucia Resort & Spa Scottsdale is located at 4949 East Lincoln Drive in the city of Paradise Valley.

3) Fan Axxess: Thursday, March 25, 2010 to Sunday, March 28, 2010 at the Phoenix Convention Center in the West and North Buildings in downtown Phoenix (located between 2nd & 5th Streets and Monroe & Washington Streets).

This interactive exposition offered many opportunities for WWE fans. There were Superstar signings, live matches, question and answer sessions, a Kids Zone and much more.

Wrestlemania Axxess tickets prices started at $30.

Session Schedule & Times:
Thursday, March 25: 6 pm - 10 pm MST
Friday, March 26: 6 pm - 10 pm MST
Saturday, March 27:
Session 1: 8 am - 12 pm MST
Session 2: 1 pm - 5 pm MST
Session 3: 7:30 pm - 11:30 pm MST
Sunday, March 28: 8 am - 12 pm MST.

4) WWE Wrestlemania 26 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony: Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 4:00 pm (MST) at the Dodge Theater in downtown Phoenix. A celebration with WWE Superstars, Divas and legends as the class of 2010 was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

The Dodge Theater seats 5,000 people and is located at 400 West Washington Street. The theater is named for its sponsor, the American car manufacturer Dodge. The Adams Street Garage is at 4th Avenue and Adams and is next to Dodge Theater. There are also a number of other parking lots and structures within walking distance of the Dodge Theater.

It was reported that WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony tickets sold out in less than one hour on Saturday, January 16.

5) Wrestlemania XXVI: this was the main event that featured the Wrestlemania matches. The big day was Sunday, March 28, 2010 at 3:45 pm (MST) at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, located at Glendale Avenue and the Loop 101 Freeway. The city of Glendale is next to and just west of the city of Phoenix.

The stadium is home to the NFL Arizona Cardinals and hosted the 2007 NFL Super Bowl. Seating can be expanded inside the stadium for 71,000 for non-football related events. University of Phoenix Stadium is operated by Global Spectrum.

Ticket prices were $755, $255, $155, $100, $80, $60, $45, $25 (additional fees may apply).

6) Monday Night Raw: This was the last Wrestlemania XXVI event, held on Monday, March 29 at 5:30 pm at US Airways Center. Fans saw your favorite WWE superstars, such as Triple H, John Cena and Shawn Michaels, wrestle at this smaller event.
