There's so many things to do in Arizona, we often have a difficult time choosing our next place to explore.Should we visit one of the many museums? Or go boating on one of the desert or mountain lakes? Perhaps we should do a little shopping? Or maybe take in a major league sports game?  | | Paula on the Pinnacle Peak Trail in north Scottsdale | The attractions in Arizona are so diverse that there's enough to keep an Arizona resident or vacationer busy for years. Many visitors don't realize that Arizona things to do include more than just golfing, desert hiking or lying beside a resort pool. Some of our favorite things to do in Arizona include: - exploring ancient Indian ruins,
- taking in an Arizona spring training baseball game,
- visiting Arizona botanical gardens,
- wildlife watching in the Sky Islands of southeastern Arizona,
- hiking the Grand Canyon.
Our short list only begins to scratch the surface of attractions in Arizona. There's also river rafting, attending one of the performing arts, skiing, touring a ghost town, searching for gems, minerals and meteors…and the list goes on. It can be hard to pick what to see and do, especially if you're new to the state. Flagstaff Attractions The fun college town of Flagstaff offers some great things to do in Arizona including gazing at the stars from a historic astronomical observatory, hiking up Arizona's tallest peak, and skiing at the Arizona Snowbowl.

Glendale Attractions This growing suburb of Phoenix offers major league basketball, hockey, and is home to both the Dodgers and White Sox during spring training. There's also a huge entertainment center, a historic downtown and a preserved early 1900s farmstead to visit too.

Grand Canyon South Rim Attractions The South Rim is the popular side of the Grand Canyon and with good reason. There are some great attractions here including scenic viewpoints, historic buildings, California condors, Native American ruins and even an IMAX theater.

Grand Canyon North Rim Attractions Although less-traveled and harder to get to, a visit to the North Rim is worth it. This quieter side of the Grand Canyon offers spectacular views, majestic forests and meadows, great wildlife watching, trails into the canyon and far fewer crowds.

Payson Attractions Looking for a cool mountain getaway not far from Phoenix? Head northeast to Payson for some popular things to do in Arizona during the summer. Camping, boating, fishing, and hiking the forests of the famed Mogollon Rim are just a few options.

Scottsdale Attractions One of the state's most popular vacation destinations also has some popular things to do in Arizona. Activities include shopping in downtown Scottsdale and at Arizona's largest mall, riding a family friendly railroad, hiking in the desert, and visiting a contemporary art museum.
