Surprise Arizona Restaurants

Find Food to Please Every Palate at Restaurants in Surprise

Although better known for retirement communities than dining, there are interesting Surprise Arizona restaurants to try if you know where to look.

If you're attending a Royals or Rangers spring training game at Surprise Stadium, you'll find many restaurants in Surprise that are conveniently close by on West Bell Road.

Although there are plenty of big chain restaurants along this busy commercial corridor, our list favors independent Surprise Arizona restaurants, a few of which are in other parts of town.

Note: All addresses are "Surprise, Arizona 85374" unless otherwise listed.

My Greek Corner restaurant in Surprise AZ

My Greek Corner
Although there are several restaurants in Surprise that serve Greek food, we like My Greek Corner for its friendly service and comfortable, homestyle atmosphere.

The large menu includes both Greek and American food. The breakfast menu focuses mostly on American dishes and the lunch and dinner menu features mostly Greek specialties.

Greek items include spanakopita, souvlaki, tiropita, tzatziki, and dolmas as well as gyros, falafels, pitas, and hummus. They have a nice selection of vegetarian platters too.

Baklava, the traditional Greek dessert of walnuts, brown sugar and phyllo dough, is both sweet and rich.

Drinks include authentic Greek wine and beers with soft drinks, juice, coffee and tea.

My Greek Corner is unusual among Surprise Arizona restaurants because it is both a sit-down restaurant and has a drive-through window.

The outside of the restaurant has a fast food look, but the inside is homey with wood tables and chairs, in addition to booths, and photographs of the Greek islands.

This restaurant in Surprise Arizona is located in the Surprise Towne Center at the northwest corner of W. Bell Rd. and Grand Ave.

Address: 13746 W. Bell Road
Phone: 623-544-4040 to call for current hours
Cost: $-$$

Fresh Wasabi Sushi and Grill Surprise restaurant

Fresh Wasabi Sushi & Grill
If you're looking for Surprise Arizona restaurants that serve Japanese food, there are just a few options and Fresh Wasabi is one of them.

Their large menu includes sashimi, tempura, noodles, bento boxes, lunch bowls, salads, and miso soup. However, the focus here is on sushi and there's lots of it.

Colorful names like the Godzilla Roll, Snow White Roll and Las Vegas Roll hint at the variety of choices. Sushi combos for 1,2,3 or 4 people offer even more selections.

One of our favorite Japanese food items is edamame. These steamed soybeans are a good counter to the more complex and rich flavors of sushi and a healthy snack food.

When you're thirsty, there's green tea, Japanese and domestic beers, wine, saki as well as soft drinks available.

Fresh Wasabi Sushi & Grill is located in the Surprise Towne Center at the northwest corner of W. Bell Rd and Grand Ave, close to My Greek Corner in the same shopping center.

Address: 13732 W. Bell Road #2
Phone: 623-584-4800 to call for current hours
Cost: $-$$$

Paradise Bakery and Cafe

Paradise Bakery and Cafe
For a quick and tasty meal, we like to eat at Paradise Bakery and Cafe.

While this place may look like most of the other Surprise Arizona restaurants along Bell Road, we think this Scottsdale-based chain makes a good and inexpensive place to eat.

Their food is fresh and delicious and the service prompt and friendly. The great sandwiches, salads and soups are all reasonably priced and every sandwich comes with a chocolate chip cookie.

They also have fresh baked breads and muffins as well as other cookie varieties. Jeff is especially fond of their raspberry muffins because they aren't too sweet.

Order and pay at the counter and then pick your own table. The drink fountain is self-serve but a staff member will bring your food out to you.

Paradise Bakery serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and free WiFi is available.

Address: 13959 West Bell Road
Phone: 623-512-4684 to call for current hours
Cost: $-$$

Archie's Deli restaurant in Surprise

Archie's Deli
Our list of Surprise Arizona restaurants wouldn't be complete without a deli. For transplanted New Yorkers, this New York style, family-owned deli should prove popular.

Although Archie's sandwiches are priced up to $12, they are large and stuffed to overflowing. For many, the half sandwich is plenty for lunch.

Options include corned beef, pastrami, beef, turkey, chicken, ham, fish, and vegetarian sandwiches.

Unlike most delis, you don't order at a deli counter; this is a sit-down restaurant. Take out and catering is available too.

Archie's breakfast menu features omelettes, egg sandwiches, pancakes, French toast, hash and blintzes. Jewish specialties include Potato latkes, knishes, matzo ball soup and bagels. A selection of beautiful desserts are displayed in a glass counter.

This restaurant in Surprise Arizona is located by the Wal-Mart in the Surprise Towne Center at the northwest corner of W. Bell Road and Grand Avenue. A second Archie's Deli is located in Tempe.

Address: 17221 N. Litchfield Park, Surprise, AZ 85374.
Phone: 623-546-9967 to call for current hours
Cost: $-$$

Amuse Bouche French restaurant in Surprise

Amuse Bouche
This French restaurant in Surprise is making a name for itself and although it's in a shopping center, don’t let that put you off.

French-trained chefs and owners Kierstin and Snir Mor have taken their passion for the art of cooking and created a popular restaurant and catering service.

Both the bistro food menu and restaurant may be small, but they've gained attention. A 2010 New York Times review helped to put this restaurant in Surprise Arizona on the map.

Amuse Bouche is known for their quiche. The meatloaf, gourmet sandwiches, soup de jour, French fries and desserts are also very popular.

This place is also unusual among expensive Surprise Arizona restaurants in that it has no liquor license, however you may bring your own wine.

Address: 17058 W. Bell Road. Located at the northeast corner of W. Bell and N. Cotton Lane.
Phone: 632-322-8881 to call for current hours
Cost: $$-$$$$

Las Fuentes Mexican Grill in Surprise

Las Fuentes Mexican Grill
The inside of this restaurant in Surprise Arizona looks like a Mexican village. However, it's the good service and large servings that set this place apart.

The menu features enchiladas, fajitas, tacos, tostadas, camarones, and combination plates.

Their traditional Mexican drinks include horchata, tamarindo, and Paula's favorite, jamaica. A small bar serves Mexican and domestic beers, wine, different flavored margaritas and mixed drinks.

The Champagne Sunday Brunch includes omelets cooked to order, Mexican soups and salads, and Mexican pastries.

Address: 13621 N. Litchfield Road, Surprise, AZ 85379. Located across the street from the UltraStar movie theater south of the corner of N. Litchfield Rd and W. Waddell Rd.
Phone: 623-214-9256 to call for current hours
Cost: $-$$$

Vogue Bistro French restaurant in Surprise

Vogue Bistro
Just a few Surprise Arizona restaurants offer fine dining options and Vogue Bistro is one of them.

This French restaurant in Surprise is the type of eatery you would expect to find in downtown Scottsdale, not out in the suburbs. The menu offers a range of American and European dishes and prices with a focus on refined tastes.

Choices include panini sandwiches, Black Angus onglet steak with brandied peppercorn sauce, and Chef Aurore's Quiche of the Day. The Vogue Bistro bar features a wine list, designer martinis, and craft beers.

This restaurant in Surprise Arizona has a stylish black and white interior and patio dining that includes a fireplace.

A French-trained chef and excellent food have made this small venue popular, so reservations are recommended for dinner.

Address: 15411 West Waddell Road, Surprise, AZ 85379. In the Marley Park Plaza shopping area south of Surprise Stadium at the southeast corner of W. Waddell and N. Reems Rd.
Phone: 623-544-9109 to call for current hours
Cost: $-$$$

Cost Key (based on average cost of entrées):
($) Inexpensive: $10 and under
($$) Moderate: $11 -$15
($$$) Expensive: $16 - $25
($$$$) Very Expensive: Over $25
