There are many spa getaways in Sedona, but one of the things that makes A Spa For You so special is that there is only one guest at a time at the spa. This allows for a complete sense of privacy and attention that you won’t find at other Sedona day spas.
Although the facilities are modest, the treatments and service are stellar.
But it's the chance to deeply relax, rejuvenate and re-connect with your mind, body and soul that makes A Spa For You a top Sedona health spa.
Treating the whole person is the emphasis here. Founder Thea Draaisma brings over a decade of experience as a massage therapist to her practice. |

She is very skilled, highly intuitive and knows just what each client needs.
This sensitivity carries over into the select and carefully chosen menu of spa therapies.
Healing modalities such as Japanese facial massage, Trager balancing, cranial sacral therapy and Reiki, when combined with more traditional spa treatments, provide a deep healing experience that lasts long after you've left this Sedona health spa.
Although you can try the massage and signature treatments individually, two of the most popular treatments - the Sedona Experience and the Sedona Glow - combine several healing therapies.
Thea is so sensitive to her clients' well-being that she developed the Lafemation Clean Body and Skin Care botanical products specifically for A Spa for You.
Lafemation is a specialized blend of 100% pure rare and precious botanicals that are gentle yet highly effective. The products are free of parabens and other harmful chemicals.
They’re perfect for those with sensitive skin as there are no artificial colors or fragrances. All Lafemation products are also Leaping Bunny certified to have no animal testing.
As a special treat over the Christmas holiday, my sister, Julie, and I booked back to back appointments at A Spa For You. |

I knew we would have great service right from the start of my correspondence with Thea.
After explaining my health concerns, she spent a lot of time recommending specific treatments and putting together a custom treatment option for me.
From the moment we arrived, Thea made us feel welcome and right at home.
Julie had her appointment first and she opted for the Japanese facial massage.
Thea trained with 27th generation Japanese facial massage master Dr. Shogo Mochizuki to learn this ancient and revered technique.
Japanese facial massage balances, strengthens and tones facial muscles, helping repair skin and prevent sagging & wrinkling naturally while increasing circulation and optimizing cellular turnover.
Julie says:
"The Japanese facial massage at A Spa For You Sedona health spa is a unique blend of facial and massage techniques.
My initial treatment started with a cranial massage followed by a warm basalt stone massage of the neck, shoulders and upper chest region. Next, Thea applied the Lafemation anti-aging products, which were tailored to my skin concerns, and massaged them onto my face.
Along with the typical back and forth circular movements used for facials, the Japanese facial massage uses a light drumming of the fingers all over the face to apply the product, creating an evident energy flow to the facial tissue.
In addition, intermittent massage of the Chakra point above the bridge of the nose and between the eyebrows provided a calming effect allowing for complete relaxation.
Upon completion of the facial, Thea used a light touching movement on my arms, legs, hands and feet, allowing my body to gently return to an awakened state.
My overall experience at A Spa For You Sedona health spa was exceptional. The meditative atmosphere with gentle new age music, friendly service and intimate setting made my treatment that much more special.
Surprisingly, I felt I had received a full body massage with just a facial, which left me relaxed, rejuvenated and ready to start my day. I would highly recommend the Japanese Facial Massage to anyone looking for a fresh approach to your everyday spa indulgences."
Julie
My treatment was a custom blend of therapies designed to ease my health concerns, which include chronic neck and shoulder tension, muscular stiffness and general fatigue.

Thea started with a Trager balancing massage. The Trager approach uses gentle, non-intrusive and natural movements to help release deep-seated physical and mental patterns.
Trager felt like having soft waves ripple along my muscles. The soothing, rocking motion induced a state of deep relaxation and I felt my muscles finally letting go of some deeply held tension.
No oil or lotion was used and there was no sense of pressure and no pain as one might have with a deep tissue massage.
I felt quite relaxed and soothed at this point but the best was yet to come as Thea moved onto Jin Shin Jyutsu therapy.
Jin Shin Jyutsu® Physio-Philosophy is the ancient Japanese art of harmonizing the body’s own life energy.
When our energy pathways become blocked, stagnation results and energy cannot flow through the body normally. Such blockages can lead to disharmony and imbalance in the body, resulting in various symptoms.
It is vaguely similar to acupressure in that the practitioner places his or her fingertips or hands on key points of the client's body that correspond to specific organs or energy pathways.
The Jin Shin Jyutsu touch, however, is very gentle; there is minimal pressure and use of oils is not necessary as there is no manipulation of the muscles or skin.
The practitioner's touch is used like "jumper cables" contacting one or more of 26 specific points (known as safety energy locks) on the body that redirect or un-block the energy flow.
Balancing the body's energy and clearing the blockages is said to help promote healing, encourage relaxation and counteract the effects of stress.
At first, the effect was subtle as Thea began the Jin Shin Jyutsu therapy on me. But then I felt my jaw relax. My shoulders dramatically dropped as though they had been freed from a vice grip.
Soon, I was so calm and relaxed that I actually drifted off to sleep for awhile – something that I’d never done during a spa treatment before.
When I came back to the real world, I was the most calm and relaxed that I had ever been. My body felt light. Best of all, my chronic, almost excruciating neck and shoulder pain and tension were gone. I could even look over my shoulders again!
Thea's intuitive touch and warm and generous spirit made our experience all the more special.
We can't recommend A Spa For You highly enough. This Sedona health spa offers the best in healing and rejuvenating therapies.
