Shop, Dine or Spa at Eclectic Shopping Centers in Scottsdale

Go to Scottsdale shopping centers:
Scottsdale Fashion Square |The Borgata |Shops at Gainey Village |Kierland Commons |The Market at DC Ranch |el Pedregal Marketplace |Shopping Center Fast Facts

Savvy Arizona vacationers and the locals know that shopping is as much a draw to this small city of 200,000 as are Scottsdale’s luxurious resorts, spas and golf courses.

Scottsdale shopping has just about everything a power shopper could wish for including designer fashions, fine art, Old West antiques, trendy shoes and Native American jewelry.

From the Southwest’s largest mall to a shopping center that resembles a Tuscan village, you’ll find a little bit everything in this shopping mecca.

And even if shopping isn’t your thing, shopping centers in Scottsdale have great restaurants, day spas and entertainment.

While some of Scottsdale’s most popular and well known shopping districts are in downtown Scottsdale, which includes Old Town Scottsdale, just about every corner of the city has its own shopping area.

The one that tourists and locals flock to for everything from shoes to sunglasses is Scottsdale Fashion Square…

Scottsdale Fashion Square

This Scottsdale mall is not only the largest Scottsdale shopping center, it’s also the largest mall in the entire Southwest.

Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall
Scottsdale Fashion Square is one of the most popular Scottsdale shopping venues

Scottsdale Fashion Square is a huge, three-story enclosed atrium-like space covering more than 18- million square feet, making it a great shopping destination no matter what the weather.

With over 225 stores, 18 specialty food selections, 5 restaurants, a food court and a seven-screen cinema, you could literally spend the entire day here.

Large anchor stores such as Macy’s, Dillard’s, Nordstrom and Neiman-Marcus are mixed with retailers like Ann Taylor, J. Crew, Aveda, Crate and Barrel and Abercrombie and Fitch.

It is also home to over 40 exclusive retailers, including Gucci, kate spade, Fossil, Dana Buchman, MaxMara, Sephora and Tiffany & Co., which are not found anywhere else in Arizona.

For young children who aren’t yet into the Scottsdale shopping scene, there’s the Enchanted Kingdom Play Area.

Even though it’s already huge, Fashion Square is always adding something new.

Soon-to-open stores include AX Armani Exchange, Brookstone and Barney’s New York.

Scottsdale Fashion Square has plenty of free parking.

On hot desert days, you’ll be grateful that most of it is covered, making leaving the air conditioned store a little easier.

The Borgata Scottsdale Shopping Center

You’ll feel like you’ve traveled to Europe after you’ve visited this central Scottsdale shopping center.

Built to resemble a medieval Tuscan village, the Borgata has an open air design with cobblestone walkways, stone fountains and tiled roofs that evoke a rustic Italian atmosphere.

Although there are a few brand name stores here, most of the Borgata’s shops are one-of-a-kind boutiques, many of which specialize in haute couture for men and women.

National chains include Chico’s, Ames and Optical Shops of Aspen.

Arizona exclusive retailers include Pink Paradise - a Lily Pulitzer signature store, James Eliot fine jewelry and Bijou, which carries haute couture for men and women.

There are also several art galleries and home accessories stores.

Two Plates Full offers a diverse mix of functional and unique art, accessories and gifts including handcrafted furniture, elegant tableware and even cactus candies.

Borgata restaurants include Taneko Japanese Tavern or Thai Thai.

If you’re just looking for a quick snack or casual meal, try the Sugarbaker’s Café and Bakery.

If Scottsdale shopping leaves you feeling beat, you can stop in at Dolce Salon and Spa for reasonably priced spa treatments such as a desert rose facial ($95/1 hour) or a Swedish massage ($$75/1 hour).

This 13,000-square foot day spa has 21 spa rooms, 28 styling stations, a Versaspa™ Sunless Tanning by Magic Tan® and a spa café.

The Shops at Gainey Village

The Shops at Gainey Village are set in the tony Gainey Ranch area and conveniently located near the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort.

Shops at Gainey Village
The open air Shops at Gainey Village makes for pleasant Scottsdale shopping experience

This Scottsdale shopping area is a blend of upscale boutiques and popular restaurants in an open air, plaza-like setting.

Thick stone columns and Mediterranean style plantings give it a rustic village feel.

Expectant moms will enjoy browsing the Belly Boutique, which has stylish designer maternity apparel with everything from casuals to cocktail dresses.

The Shops at Gainey Village has nine restaurants including Pei Wei Asian Diner, Picazzo's Gourmet Pizza and Salads and Paradise Bakery and Café.

Bloom restaurant Scottsdale Arizona
Bloom restaurant at the Shops at Gainey Village

Bloom is part of the very successful Fox restaurants empire, started by Sam Fox, a Tucson chef turned restaurateur.

Bloom has a trendy contemporary but casual atmosphere and is very popular with locals.

The seasonally menu has a New American cuisine style, blending ingredients from around the world.

We found our appetizer of melted brie with tomatoes and roasted garlic and the delicious and chocolatey "bars of sin" dessert to be better than our dinner entrees. Still, we would eat at Bloom again as it does have an interesting menu.

The award-winning Garduño’s Margarita Factory is a local favorite.

They serve Mexican specialties such as enchiladas, fajitas, margaritas and a variety of tequilas. Don’t miss the live Mariachi music Wednesdays through Sundays.

Kierland Commons Scottsdale Shopping Center

Set in Scottsdale’s newer and expanding upscale north end, the Kierland Scottsdale bills itself as a "lifestyle center."

The Kierland Commons in north Scottsdale is an upscale Scottsdale shopping center

This 38-acre Scottsdale shopping area combines stores, restaurants, offices and residential lofts in a breezy outdoor, urban neighborhood setting.

With its palm-lined streets, misted sidewalks and valet parking, you’ll feel rich and famous while window shopping, no matter how much you have in your wallet.

The upscale mix of over 70 shops includes Coach, French Connection, Anthropologie, Eileen Fisher and Gauthier L’atelier jewelers.

Men aren’t left out of the Kierland Commons shopping scene either with stores like In Celebration of Golf, Hemingway’s Cigar Boutique and V’s Barbershop.

Both men and women will enjoy the Tommy Bahama store with its island plantation style and a misted café and bar on the store’s front patio.

For kids, there’s a large water splash pad in front of the Barnes and Noble bookstore and a Cold Stone Creamery.

If you’re a home, garden or cooking enthusiast, stop in at Restoration Hardware, Sur La Table, Baccus Wine Made Simple or Smith and Hawken.

Kierland Commons is also worth a visit to try some popular Scottsdale restaurants.

Zinc Bistro is one of our favorites for its authentic Paris café atmosphere and bistro cuisine.

Some of their delicious French specialties include flatiron steak and pommes frites, Dungeness crab and truffle omelette and chocolate pot de crème infused with Earl Grey tea.

Other Kierland Commons restaurants are:

Kierland Commons is next door to the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa and the Kierland Golf Course and Club.

It's worth the easy stroll across the street to stroll through the lovely flower-filled grounds or even have an agave-inspired spa treatment at the resort's Agave Spa.
