Red Rock Views Make a Sedona Resort & Spa Worth the Splurge
Staying at resorts in Sedona is a great way to spend an Arizona vacation.
 | | The red buttes of Boynton Canyon tower over Enchantment, one of the best resorts in Sedona | Beautiful red rock views, spas, pools and other amenities make Sedona resorts a getaway all by themselves. Yes, you will pay higher room rates but, if you can afford it, sometimes a splurge is just what's needed during a Sedona vacation. There are several resorts in Sedona but we've listed just three here because most of the other Sedona resorts are timeshare properties. While we don't have anything against timeshares, we just prefer not to get a timeshare pitch while we're on vacation. These three are the best Sedona Arizona resorts in our estimation and they all have red rock views.

Amara Sedona Resort and Spa This secluded boutique Sedona resort is really closer to a boutique hotel in style and types of amenities. As a matter of fact, the property opened as the Amara Resort but is now called Amara Boutique Creekside Hotel. And as its name suggests, Amara is set along the banks of green and tranquil Oak Creek, making it one of the few resorts in Sedona that has a creekside setting. Amara Sedona is hidden away at the end of a private driveway, downhill from the busy tourist area of Uptown Sedona. The atmosphere is elegant with a "Zen meets Pottery Barn" look and feel. The buildings surround a central courtyard with a large patio, fire pit, a lawn and a small, saltwater swimming pool and hot tub. From here you can step down to the wooded edge of Oak Creek for a quiet moment. We liked our comfortable room even though the bathroom was on the small side and the room had no view or balcony. Some rooms do have views of the creek and the red rocks, however. Amara Sedona Resort's current restaurant, Hundred Rox, serves California-Italian cuisine in a dining room filled with works by local artists. The Asian-accented Amara Spa is small but satisfying. Paula loved the soothing and refreshing Elemis facial, which featured Elemis spa products. Read our full Amara Resort review. Red Rock Views? Limited, only some of the upper floor rooms have views. Amenities: free internet access, valet parking. Rates: $155 - $295 plus a $20 resort fee per room/night. A small sign marks the driveway down to the hotel.

Enchantment Resort And Mii Amo Spa Of all the resorts in Sedona, Enchantment Resort offers the most secluded and peaceful experience. Its spectacular location, tucked away in Boynton Canyon and surrounded by wilderness, makes this a unique Sedona resort. Arizona has many resorts but this one has some of the best views. You don't get much closer to red rocks than this. The buildings are all one story and spread out around the property. Outside, they resemble old adobe casitas. Inside, the rooms are comfortable, spacious and rustically decorated with rough hewn wood furniture and Southwestern and Native American accents, in keeping with the locale. Plus, every room has a large deck for enjoying the red rock views. Although Enchantment Sedona has a rugged setting, you'll have every amenity including three restaurants, four pools, tennis and access to hiking and biking in the red rocks and forests around the resort. Besides the scenery, Enchantment has one of Arizona’s best spas – Mii amo Spa - of all the resorts in Sedona. Set away from the rest of the Enchantment Resort, Mii amo is a rejuvenating escape offering an amazing variety of treatments from Ayurvedic consultations and chakra-clearing massage to a Sedona clay wrap and a crystal bath. Hilton Sedona Resort & Spa Of all the resorts in Sedona, this is the only one in the Village of Oak Creek, which is about a 15-minute drive south of central Sedona. Although this resort in Sedona AZ is set on a hill above Highway 179, it doesn't feel like it's on a busy highway and it is quiet. The 3-story resort has suite rooms with a separate living area with a sofa bed. Kitchenettes in the rooms make this resort in Sedona a good option for families and extended stay travelers. All rooms have a balcony or patio and a gas fireplace. Though the Hilton Sedona Resort is not in the heart of Sedona, there's still plenty to do in this neck of the woods. Hilton Sedona Resort guests can book tee times on the Gary Panks-designed, 18-hole championship golf course at the Sedona Golf Resort next door. Just 1.5 miles north is the famous Bell Rock Pathway, perfect for hiking, biking and getting up close to Bell Rock, one of Sedona’s most famous vortexes. Next door is Tequa Plaza, which has a casual café that's good for breakfast, and the much-praised Cucina Rustica, which serves delicious, fine Italian cuisine. The Village of Oak Creek also has a variety of retail shops, restaurants, mountain bike rental shops and an outlet mall. Though not fancy, we enjoyed our stay at this casual and laid back Sedona resort. Read our full Hilton Sedona Resort review. Red Rock Views: Yes, rooms on the top floor have the best red rock views.
