It May Be a Small Town but Payson Arizona Restaurants are Big on Flavor

Gerardo's Italian Bistro Gerardo's is one of the most popular Payson restaurants with both locals and visitors alike for its friendly staff, large portions and an extensive menu of hearty Italian dishes. Chef Gerardo's formal training in Italy, Switzerland and France can be tasted in his pastas and wood-fired pizzas. You can choose from 7 different, 12-inch hand-thrown pizzas or build your own by choosing from 22 toppings. We can definitely recommend the pasta but other dinner specialties include chicken parmigiana, calamari and scampi. At lunch, try one of the oven-baked sandwiches. Address: 512 N. Macky's Grill This spacious restaurant, tucked into a strip mall, has the most varied menu of all the Payson restaurants. We had a hard time deciding from the steaks, burgers, chicken, fish, sandwiches, salads, quesadillas and appetizers, in both healthy and decadent variations. Everything we chose was delicious, especially the homemade cornbread and pies. This family owned and operated restaurant is named after an old Irish cowboy named Mack. The old ranch souvenirs and historic family photos give it a distinctly western atmosphere. Their large outdoor patio is dog-friendly. Address: 201 W. Scoops Ice Cream & Espresso If you are in search of a hot or a cold treat, Scoops has what you are looking for. Their spacious shop combines both an ice cream shop and a coffeehouse. Stop in for 24 flavors of Dreyer's ice cream, sundaes, shakes, malts and or a cup of Dean's Beans Organic Fair Trade Coffee. Or try an espresso drink made from Cortez Coffee Company beans from the full espresso bar. Owners Chris and Maria Higgins are happy to serve you at this family friendly Payson restaurant. Located next to Macky's Grill and the Sawmill Theatre, Scoops is the perfect spot for a delicious treat for movie patrons and diners alike. The classic coffee shop menu includes pancakes, burgers, fries, homemade pies and daily dinner specials. You'll need to pay in cash though as the Beeline doesn't accept plastic. Address: 815 S.
