Surprise is a fast-growing suburb west of Phoenix. It's a popular retiree spot but may be best known as the home of Surprise Stadium, which hosts Texas Rangers spring training and Kansas City Royals spring training. If you're planning to visit during Surprise Arizona spring training, which starts in late February and runs to the beginning of April, you'll need to make reservations for hotels in Surprise Arizona well in advance. During other times of the year, you shouldn't have much trouble getting lodging in town. Most hotels in Surprise Arizona are on Bell Road, one of the city's major streets, or are just off it. The closest Surprise Arizona hotels to the baseball stadium are the Holiday Inn Express and the Residence Inn. Surprise's largest retirement community is Sun City Grand. Surprise is also next to Sun City West and close to Del Webb's original Sun City retirement community. If you're visiting friends or relatives at any of these communities, hotels in Surprise Arizona are a good lodging option.
The 4-story Residence Inn Surprise Arizona hotel opened in 2010 and has a very modern look. All of the 116 suites are non-smoking. There are three types of suites: studio, one bedroom, and two bedrooms. Each has a fully equipped kitchen with a refrigerator, stove top, microwave, dishwasher, pots, pans, dishes, silverware, and coffee maker. The room's large, flat screen TV swivels so it can be seen from the couch or dining table. The east side of the hotel is right along Bullard Avenue, so if you're concerned about traffic noise, you may want to ask for a room on the west side of the hotel. This is the other of the hotels in Surprise Arizona that is the closest lodging to Surprise Stadium. Located on Bullard Avenue just north of the Residence Inn, this hotel is also a short walk down Bullard Avenue to the ball park. Opened in 2007, the Holiday Inn Express has 115 non-smoking guest rooms including suites 28 on 4 floors. Guest rooms feature a flat screen TV, desk and coffee maker. Some guest rooms have a sofa bed too. The suites also include a mini-refrigerator, microwave and a separate living room. Amenities: free internet access, free breakfast, small outdoor pool and whirlpool, small fitness room, gift shop/newsstand, business center, meeting room, free newspaper.
Hampton Inn and Suites Surprise This is one of the hotels in Surprise Arizona that's off of Bell Road but it's still easy to reach. The Hampton has 100 non-smoking guest rooms including 32 studio suites on 4 floors. All guest rooms have a refrigerator, microwave, desk, in-room safe, coffee maker and suites also include a sofa bed. Bathrooms feature marble countertops, a curved shower rod and WaterPik showerhead. The Hampton Inn Surprise is located in a newly developed shopping center on W. Grand Ave., and is close to the Kokopelli Winery and Bistro and a number of stores and restaurants. Denny's and an Albertson's grocery store are nearby. The Hampton Inn and Suites Surprise is about 4 miles north of Surprise Stadium. For those concerned about noise, there are train tracks that run along W. Grand Avenue. Amenities: free internet access, free hot breakfast, small outdoor pool and whirlpool, fitness room, on-site Suite Shop convenience store, business center, meeting room, free weekday newspaper.
The Comfort Inn is easy to miss as it's tucked away at the east end of the Surprise Marketplace shopping center at the intersection of W. Bell Road and W. Grand Avenue. Like some of the other hotels in Surprise Arizona, it makes for a convenient stay because it's right next to restaurants like the Olive Garden and plenty of shopping. This Surprise Arizona hotel opened in 2008 with 86 non-smoking guest rooms on 3 floors. All guest rooms include refrigerators, microwaves and coffee makers. Some rooms feature balconies and sofabeds. The Comfort Inn is about 3 miles northeast of Surprise Stadium. Light sleepers, please note that there are train tracks that run along W. Grand Avenue. Amenities: free internet access, free breakfast with hot waffles, outdoor pool and whirlpool, business center, meeting room, on-site guest self laundry.
The Windmill is the most distinctive looking of any of the hotels in Surprise Arizona because if its large, pink stucco buildings, landscaped courtyard, fountains and a very large pond. This older property has 127 non-smoking 2-room suites on 3 floors. All suites have a separate living room and bedroom and a small kitchenette with a mini-refrigerator, microwave and sink. A nice feature is the dual sinks in the bathroom area, one inside the bathroom and another just outside the bathroom. Although guest rooms have a dated look with green carpets, the Windmill Inn has a reputation for cleanliness and good service. Amenities: free internet access, free continental breakfast with option to sit outside, outdoor pool and Jacuzzi, small fitness room, meeting room, on-site guest self laundry, guest bicycles available.
Renovated in 2009, this is another one of the hotels in Surprise Arizona hotel on busy W. Bell Road. You can't miss the bright yellow exterior of this Days Inn Surprise. There are 59 non-smoking guest rooms on 3 floors. Each guest room has a refrigerator, microwave, desk and coffee maker. Queen rooms are available with one, two, or even three queen beds. Some king suites include an in room Jacuzzi tub. It's about 3 miles from Surprise Stadium. Amenities: free internet access, free local phone calls, free hot continental breakfast, heated outdoor pool and hot tub, business center, meeting room, on-site guest self laundry, use of a nearby fitness center, free newspaper.
Quality Inn And Suites, Surprise Quality Inn has 69 large non-smoking rooms on 3 floors in a stucco building. All guest rooms have in-room safes and a coffee maker; some rooms have refrigerators and microwaves. This hotel is next to Moon Valley Nursery and is behind one of the other hotels in Surprise Arizona, the Days Inn& Suites. Amenities: free breakfast, indoor heated pool and hot tub, fitness room, meeting room, on-site guest self laundry, free weekday newspaper.
Motel 6 - Phoenix Sun City - Youngtown #22 Although this is not technically one of the hotels in Surprise Arizona, it is the closest Motel 6 for Texas Rangers spring training and Kansas City Royals Spring Training fans. Located 4.8 miles from Surprise Stadium, the Motel 6 Phoenix Sun City-Youngtown is a white building with exterior corridors and 2 floors. Both smoking and non-smoking rooms are available. Like other Motel 6s, the rooms are simple with a bed, desk and nightstand but they also have ESPN and HBO on their expanded cable television lineup. This Motel 6 is next to the Best Western Inn and Suites of Sun City on busy Grand Avenue (Highway 60). Amenities: internet access available in some rooms for a small fee, free morning coffee, free local calls, outdoor heated pool.
