This is the section of town to stay in if you want to be close to the Santa Catalina foothills, Sabino Canyon, Mt. Lemmon and Saguaro National Park-Eastern District.

We were surprised by how nice this hotel in Tucson Arizona looked when it opened in 2007.

With its earth-toned colors and tile roofs, it fits well into the surrounding upscale Catalina foothills neighborhood.

This hotel in Tucson AZ has 119 suites on 3 floors.

All suites have a separate sleeping and living area with a sofa bed, two 32" plasma TVs, microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker. There are both smoking and non-smoking suites available.

Guests get a free cooked-to-order breakfast every morning. In the evening, the manager's reception features free drinks and light snacks.

The Embassy Suites Paloma Village is located on the opposite corner of the intersection of E. Skyline Drive and N. Campbell Avenue, across from La Encantada, a chic, open air shopping and dining center.

Amenities: fee for internet access, outdoor heated pool and whirlpool, guest self-laundry, on-site convenience store, fitness room, business center, meeting rooms.

Directions: From I-10, take exit 248 at Ina Road. Drive east on Ina, which curves to the right and becomes E. Skyline Drive. About seven miles from the freeway, after crossing N. Campbell Avenue, Embassy Suites Paloma Village hotel in Tucson Arizona will be on the right side of E. Skyline Dr.



Holiday Inn Express Tucson hotel

If you want the convenience of being close to lots of stores and restaurants, this hotel in Tucson Arizona is in a good location. Wal-Mart, Best Buy and Office Max are next to the hotel and the large Tucson Mall is several blocks away.

Plus, its central location makes it easy to get to downtown and the freeway.

The Holiday Inn Express has 105 non-smoking suites on 3 floors. All suites include a microwave, mini-refrigerator, coffee maker, plates and glassware.

Directions: From the I-10, take exit 252 - W. El Camino Del Cerro/W. Ruthrauff Road. Drive east on W. Ruthrauff, which, after a long curve to the right and then to the left, becomes W. Wetmore Road. Drive past the Tucson Mall, which is on the left of W. Wetmore Road. The street becomes E. Wetmore Rd after N. Stone Avenue intersection. The hotel is on the right (south) side of E. Wetmore. Holiday Inn Express Tucson Mall hotel in Tucson Arizona is about a 5 mile drive from the freeway.



Motel ^ North Tucson hotel

Located in the town of Marana, just 9.6 miles northwest of downtown Tucson, this Motel 6 is not far off Interstate 10. Although the motel is set back from busy Ina Road, it is close to the railroad tracks.

The Ina Road area is a convenient location and, because its not in town, rates are often cheaper at lodgings here.

Plus, there are plenty of stores and restaurants close by for meals and shopping.

The hotel is in a brick building with interior corridors and 2 floors. It has been "refreshed" and rooms are typical of other Motel 6s. Both smoking and non-smoking rooms are available. A small fee may apply for some rooms that have a microfridge.

Directions: From the I-10 Freeway, take exit 248 at Ina Road. Drive east on Ina a very short distance. The Motel 6 North hotel in Tucson Arizona will be on the left (north) side of Ina Road behind several restaurants.



Sheraton Tucson Hotel

This hotel in Tucson Arizona is in the northeast part of town and has 216 rooms and suites on 4 floors.

Renovated in 2009, all guest rooms are non-smoking and feature a 32" flat panel TV, mini-refrigerator, coffee maker, balconies or patios and small bathrooms. Most suites have a sofa bed.

The Sheraton Tucson Hotel and Suites courtyard has an outdoor heated pool, spa tub and fire pits (used in the winter only).

For a quick bite, there is a Starbucks coffee bar in the lobby. For more leisurely dining, Fire + Spice, an Arizona grill, serves Southwestern cuisine all day.

Mid-Town Tucson Area Hotels


If you'd like to be close to downtown Tucson, the University of Arizona or the freeway, these hotels in Tucson Arizona are good options.

University Marriott hotel in Tucson Arizona

As it’s only about a block from the main gate of the University of Arizona, this hotel in Tucson Arizona has an excellent location for those wanting to be near the campus.

It’s also right by the shops and restaurants of University Avenue and just about a dozen blocks from downtown.

With 233 non-smoking rooms and 17 suites, this is the nearest full service Marriott to downtown. The Tucson Marriott University Park is also one of the largest mid-town hotels in Tucson Arizona.

The lobby is on one side of a large, airy atrium in the center of the hotel. Glass elevators rise up one side of the atrium 9 floors to the top.

We enjoyed the mountain views from our basic but clean and comfortable room on the 8th floor. All guest rooms have a sofa bed and coffee maker. Some suites have a microwave and mini-refrigerator.

Saguaro Grill Restaurant, the hotel's eatery, is located across from the lobby. We had great service and a good buffet breakfast with made-to-order eggs, pancakes and waffles.

Note: There is an on-site parking fee and a valet parking fee.

Amenities: fee for internet access, 24/7 fitness center, small outdoor pool, gift shop, business center, 10 meeting rooms.

Directions: From I-10, take the Speedway Blvd. exit. Drive west on Speedway and turn right (south) on N. Euclid Avenue. Drive two blocks on N. Euclid, then turn right (east) on E. 2nd Street. The Marriott Tucson University Park hotel in Tucson Arizona is on the right (south) side of E. 2nd.

You’ll feel like you stepped back in time when you stay at the famous Arizona Inn.

This charming hotel in Tucson Arizona is tucked into an equally charming, central Tucson neighborhood about a mile from the University of Arizona.

The Inn’s attentive service is a hallmark of the Greenway family, who have continually owned and operated this historic hotel in Tucson Arizona since it opened in 1930.

The pink adobe buildings sit tucked in among over 14 acres of colorful gardens, verdant lawns and shady courtyards.

We loved the casita-style rooms, with their retro 1940s style furnishings, tile and hardwood floors and private patios that evoke a by-gone era.

Step into the Audubon Bar and you'll feel like you're in the movie Casablanca.

We enjoyed breakfast in the main dining room with its cathedral ceiling. On another morning, we ate poolside at the breakfast buffet under a covered patio.

Amenities: free internet access, free parking, 60-foot heated outdoor pool, clay tennis courts, exercise facility, saunas, large library, restaurant, bar with live piano nightly, complimentary afternoon tea (seasonal), ice cream by the pool (seasonal), complimentary bicycles.

Directions: From I-10, take the 257 exit- E. Speedway Boulevard. Drive east on E. Speedway to Campbell Boulevard. Turn left (north) on Campbell and drive to the next light at Elm Street. Turn right (east) on Elm Street. The Arizona Inn is located halfway down the block on the right side of Elm. Parking is across the street on the left.



Lodge on the Desert Tucson hotel

The Lodge on the Desert hotel in Tucson Arizona first opened with 7 guest rooms in 1936.

After a $15 million expansion and renovation in 2009, the Lodge now has 103 non-smoking guest rooms, including 13 suites, on 2 floors.

The Southwest charm remains here with hacienda-style rooms and historic casitas.

Although located in the middle of the city, this hotel in Tucson AZ sits on 5 acres with lawns, palms, cactus and flowers giving it the feel of a desert oasis.

Broadway Boulevard. Continue here through downtown Tucson. After several miles on E. Broadway you will pass the El Con Mall on your left. From E. Broadway, turn left (north) on N. Alvernon Way. Drive 3 blocks north on N. Alvernon and the Lodge on the Desert hotel in Tucson Arizona will be on the right side of the street.

The Doubletree Hotel Tucson was renovated in 2008. The hotel sits on 14 acres and has 295 rooms and suites on 9 floors.

There are several free-standing casitas in the back of the property.

Most rooms are non-smoking, however, there are smoking rooms available.

The hotel also offers PURE allergy-friendly rooms that minimize allergy issues.

Access to this Motel 6 is easy from the frontage road on the west side of the I-10 Freeway.

It's conveniently located close to downtown Tucson near Congress Street, a main road into Tucson from the freeway.

The building is simple with white stucco walls, exterior corridors and 2 floors. Rooms are basic with a bed, chair, table and TV. Smoking and non-smoking rooms are available.
