Glendale Arizona Restaurants

While you can find Glendale Arizona restaurants all over town, two areas in particular have the most diverse dining options: Westgate City Center and Downtown Glendale.

Westgate has mostly national and western U.S. chains.

In downtown Glendale, there are a variety of locally-owned eateries, with offerings that range from wood-fired pizzas or sauerbraten to Polish cuisine and a great cup of coffee.

Westgate Glendale Arizona Restaurants

Gordon Biersch Glendale AZ restaurants

Gordon Biersch Restaurant and Brewery
Gordon Biersch began as a small brew pub started by two guys named Gordon and Biersch in Palo Alto, CA. Today, they've expanded to 17 locations across the U.S.

Gordon and Biersch makes hand-crafted beers and has a large, eclectic menu.

There's something for just about everyone, from burgers, pizzas and sandwiches to salads, pastas and seafood.

A neat feature of the restaurant is the giant brew kettles that can be seen behind large windows. We had a very good lunch here and the service was very fast and friendly.

Address: 6915 N. 95th Ave., Glendale AZ 85305. Located at the north end of Westgate City Center near W. Glendale Ave.
Phone: 623-877-4300
Cost: $-$$$

Margaritaville Glendale AZ restaurants

Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville
Visit this most colorful of all the Glendale Arizona restaurants and you'll never be bored! The visual stimuli include a giant whale, a sea plane and fishing boat hanging overhead.

Large screen TVs run loops of Jimmy Buffett fans at tailgate parties before concerts and Jimmy Buffett visiting U.S. troops overseas.

Not to worry, though. You don't have to be a big time "Parrot Head" to appreciate the fun, carefree, tropical theme.

While it might seem all show and no substance, the food is actually quite good. The menu has a definite Caribbean angle with items like conch fritters, jerk salmon and plenty of Margaritas. But there's also Caesar salad, hamburgers, nachos, pulled pork sandwich and, of course, seafood.

We found it a fun and relaxing spot for lunch while watching the water fountain show in front of the restaurant from the cool, misted patio.

After dinner, the restaurant turns into a nightclub where you can dance to live bands every night of the week.

Address: 6751 N. Sunset Blvd. #E109, Glendale AZ 85305. Located at the south end of Westgate City Center.
Phone: 623-772-0011
Cost: $-$$$

Native New Yorker Glendale AZ dining

Native New Yorker
Founded by a family from Buffalo, New York, this chain restaurant got its start in Phoenix.

You can't miss it when you're driving by because there is a mini "Statue of Liberty" in front.

Although it is famous for its wings, the menu also features pasta, specialty sandwiches, fish & chips, and burgers.

They also offer calzones and pizzas including the thinner crust New York style pizzas.

Plenty of large screen TVs and beer specials add to the sports bar atmosphere.

Address: 7273 N. 95th Ave., Glendale AZ 85305. Located north of Westgate across W. Glendale Ave., next to Cabella's.
Phone: 623-877-4500
Cost: $-$$$

Saddle Ranch Glendale AZ restaurant

Saddle Ranch Chop House
The angle of this LA-based chain is "where rock meets western."

This is another one of the Glendale Arizona restaurants that really catches the eye with its faux Old West saloon exterior and stagecoach hanging from the roof.

As you might expect, the menu has a Western influence with steaks, burgers and baby back ribs but it also has salads, sandwiches and seafood.

There's even a few vegetarian items.

Saddle Ranch also serves brunch daily from 8am to 3pm. Hearty eaters will like the cinnamon swirl Texas toast, huevos rancheros and sausage and biscuits.

This touristy restaurant is so large that it features a mechanical bull, full bar, dancing, big screen TVs, an open air patio and a gift shop.

Address: 9375 W. Coyotes Blvd., Glendale AZ 85305. Next to Jobing.com Arena in Westgate City Center.
Phone: 623-889-7770
Cost: $$-$$$

Downtown Glendale Arizona Restaurants

Haus Murphy German restaurant in Glendale

Haus Murphy
For a traditional Old German dining experience, head to Haus Murphy. With its giant beer mugs, giant pretzels and outdoor beer garden it feels like its Oktoberfest every day here.

There's even a two man "Haus Band" that plays German music with a horn and accordion on Friday and Saturday evenings.

The menu includes appetizers, sausage, schnitzel and plenty of German beers on tap. House specialties include kraut roulade, sauerbraten, and hackbraten – a German style meatloaf.

End your dinner with traditional desserts such as German Chocolate cake, apple strudel and Sauerkraut cake with chocolate fudge and kraut added for moisture.

The lunch menu is similar to the dinner menu with the addition of sandwiches. There is a small kids menu and just a few vegetarian pastas.

Haus Murphy serves dinner only on Monday. There's a separate lunch and dinner Tuesday through Saturday. On Sunday, dinner is served all day.

Address: 5739 W. Glendale Ave., Glendale AZ 85301
Phone: 623-939-2480

La Piazza Al Forno Glendale Arizona restaurants

La Piazza Al Forno
Dennis Piazza and his son, Justin, bring a true taste of Italy to the Glendale Arizona restaurants scene.

The name of their downtown Glendale restaurant is Italian for "Piazza's Oven".

Step inside and you'll find the special, handmade wood-fired brick oven which they use to make all their pizzas.

Here is where to get a true Neapolitan pizza. It's so authentic that their pizzas have been certified as "Pizza Napoletana" by a special Italian association that verifies what is a true Neapolitan pizza.

It's not just the oven that helps make their pizzas so authentic. The Piazzas make their own mozzarella and pizza dough and use imported San Marzano tomatoes for their sauce.

Traditionalists will like the Regina Margherita D.O.C., a simple but delicious pizza of tomatoes, mozzarella, extra-virgin olive oil and basil. The Italian Stallion pizza, with prosciutto de Parma, sopressata and sausage, is a popular choice for meat lovers.

While pizza is the focus here, there are other Italian dishes on the menu.

Pastas include ravioli, lasagna, rigatoni, spaghetti, and fettuccine. There are also salads, antipasti and housemade bread.

For dessert, you can choose from Italian almond wine cake, zeppolis, cannoli and homemade cheesecake.

Address: 5803 W. Glendale Ave., Glendale AZ 85301
Phone: 623-847-3301
Cost: $-$$$

Touch of Europe Cafe

Touch of Europe Café
Looking for something a little different among the Glendale Arizona restaurants? Dine at Touch of Europe.

Owners Waldemar and Margaret Okula serve the cuisine of their Polish homeland. Specialties include pierogi, goulash, stuffed cabbage, blintzes and kielbasa.

They also have deli-style sandwiches, salads and desserts.

Their cafe is very small with just 6 tables and a small patio but it's a local favorite, especially for weekday lunch.

Address: 7146 N. 57th Drive, Glendale AZ 85301 in Caitlin Court.
