First Friday Flagstaff Art Walk

Discover the Flagstaff Art Scene during the First Friday ArtWalk

Every month, Flagstaff's old buildings highlight new creativity during the Flagstaff Art Walk.

Held monthly, the First Friday Art Walk Flagstaff is a great way to experience historic downtown Flagstaff and discover the vibrant and diverse Flagstaff art scene.

You don't have to walk far as there are over 15 Flagstaff art galleries within several blocks of each other.

Ever wanted to know how an artist gets his or her inspiration? Need tips on starting an art collection?

The Flagstaff Art Walk is the perfect opportunity to have all your burning art questions answered as you mix and mingle with artists and gallery owners. Some galleries also serve complimentary snacks and beverages.

This free event has become a large and very popular social gathering.

Adding to the festive air, local bands and other performers entertain in the galleries.

When weather permits, these performances may spill out onto the sidewalk.

But it really is all about the art and the scope of art in Flagstaff is impressive.

In addition to painting, jewelry and sculpture, you may also see stoneware, ceramic art, fine art photography, wood carvings, textiles, metalwork and stained glass.

The First Friday Art Walk doesn't only include galleries, however.

Flagstaff restaurants, shops and even a shuttle service show art during First Fridays.

Other businesses are Art Walk supporters even though they don't have art on display for the event, so stop in and visit them too.

Every First Friday Art Walk also has a featured Hot Spot. This helps to focus attention on a different gallery each month.

One of the galleries not to miss during the Flagstaff Art Walk is the Grandon Art Gallery (20 N. Leroux St.; 928-380-4915).

Artist David Grandon has created a space that reflects the color and diversity of the Flagstaff art scene, showcasing the work of established and emerging local artists.

Stop in to see an eclectic collection of paintings, sculpture and illustrations from talented artists including Shonto Begay, Jessica Dawn, Mike Frick, David Riley and Gregory Mason.

The Grandon Art Gallery is also a working studio where you can see David Grandon creating his beautiful murals and painted furniture.

The Art Walk is also a good time to find that special gift made by a local artist that is just right for friends or family.

With so many different kinds of art in so many different places, there is something for everyone at the First Friday Art Walk Flagstaff.

Before attending the First Friday Art Walk, you may want to start your evening by having dinner at one of Flagstaff's many great restaurants. Check out our list of favorite Flagstaff Restaurants.

The First Friday Art Walk is sponsored by the Flagstaff Cultural Partners, a consortium of nonprofit arts, science and cultural organizations, which has done an excellent job of organizing the event.
