Downtown Phoenix Hotel

Hotels in Downtown Phoenix are Close to Everything

Looking for a downtown Phoenix hotel?

There are several to choose from, including high end hotels and suite style lodgings at a variety of price ranges.

All of the hotels we've listed below are either within walking distance of most downtown Phoenix attractions, or are near a Phoenix light rail stop, including:

  • the Phoenix Convention Center,
  • the US Airways Center,
  • the Dodge Theater Phoenix,
  • and Chase Field, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball team.

Another convenient feature of hotels in downtown Phoenix is that they are only a 5-mile drive from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

Hotels in downtown Phoenix are also centrally located for traveling to everything the greater Phoenix area has to offer as access to and from the major interstates is close by.

See the Room Rates Cost Key below the hotel list for an explanation of rates.

Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel

Sheraton Downtown Phoenix Hotel

The Sheraton Downtown Phoenix Hotel is the nicest of all the hotels in the area.

It's also the largest, with 1000 rooms on 31 floors. It opened in late 2008 and is a smoke-free property.

Another plus is that it's only one block away from the Phoenix Convention Center.

Good service, spacious rooms and a sophisticated, modern atmosphere made our stay at the Sheraton one of our best lodging experiences in Phoenix.

Amenities at this downtown Phoenix hotel include a lap pool on 4th floor, fitness center, gift shop, business center, and 80,000 square feet of meeting space.

The only drawbacks are the fee for self-parking in the underground garage and charges for in-room internet access.

The Sheraton Downtown Phoenix Hotel's main eatery is the District Restaurant, serving modern American cuisine with an emphasis on farm fresh ingredients. We loved the Sunday brunch for it's wealth of tasty, breakfast options.

There's also the Club Lounge, which offers complimentary breakfast, afternoon hors d'oeuvres, and beverages to qualifying guests.

For a quick meal, the Link Cafe has coffee, pastries, fruit, and sandwiches.

Located across N. 3rd Street from the Sheraton hotel is the only shopping mall in downtown Phoenix.

Arizona Center is a collection of office buildings, a 24-screen movie theater, retail shops and restaurants all connected by outdoor breezeways.

Although it seemed like half the stores sold tourist items and the other half were empty, we were glad we visited because we had an excellent dinner at My Big Fat Greek Restaurant.

You won't leave hungry after eating one of their platters of souvlaki, mousaka or spanakopita.

Room Amenities: Starbucks coffee with coffee maker, flat panel TV, Sheraton Sweet Sleeper bed, free weekday newspaper, bathrobes.

Rates: $$ - $$$

Pet Friendly: Dogs only, restrictions apply.

Hyatt Regency Phoenix

Also located across the street from the Phoenix Convention Center is the Hyatt Hotel Phoenix with 696 non-smoking rooms on 24 floors.

A unique feature of the Hyatt Phoenix is Arizona's only revolving restaurant, the Compass, set atop of the hotel.

Diners have commanding views of Phoenix while noshing on American regional cuisine.

Other hotel dining options include the Terrace Cafe, Networks Bar and Grill, and the casual Einstein Brothers Café, a local chain known for its bagels.

This Downtown Phoenix hotel also has a fitness center, gift shop, business center, and conference rooms.

There is a fee for parking at the Hyatt Regency Phoenix. There may also be a charge for in-room internet access and there is no free internet access in the lobby.

Bathrooms have walk-in showers with rainfall showerheads.

The hotel restaurant, Province, serves American cuisine with a Latin influence and a focus on local and seasonal foods. From the Province lounge you can step outside to a large patio with a fire pit and waterfall.
