Smoke Won't Get in Your Eyes with Arizona No Smoking Law
In November 2006, Arizonans adopted an Arizona Smoking Ban, otherwise known as Proposition 201 – the "Smoke-Free Arizona" Initiative.
On May 1, 2007, smoking was no longer allowed inside the majority of Arizona indoor public places including resorts and hotels, restaurants, bars, stadiums, theaters and workplaces. Also as part of the Arizona no smoking rules, the state health department requires a 20-foot smoke-free buffer zone around the entrances to business or places of employment. The exception to the Arizona no smoking ban buffer-zone rule is outdoor patios. Smoking is allowed in any space that is open on at least one side, wall or ceiling, provided that the smoke is not bale to get indoors. Smoking is still allowed in casinos, veterans or fraternal clubs and retail tobacco shops as well as in the privacy of one's home. The fine print of the Arizona no smoking law also allows hotels the leeway to designate up to half of their guest rooms as "smoking rooms." Some hotel brands have completely eliminated all smoking rooms however, including Marriott, Sheraton and Westin.
