Heed the Seat Belt Law in Arizona and Save a Life
The Arizona seat belt law requires that each front seat occupant wear a lap and shoulder belt that is properly adjusted and fastened while the vehicle is moving.
Children under 5 years old must be properly restrained as well by being in age- and size-appropriate child safety seats. Although it is not currently part of the seat belt law in Arizona, children 5 to 8 years of age should be in booster seats - a device which raises a child in the seat so that the seat belt fits properly. Studies have shown that the use of booster seats lowers the risk of injury in traffic accidents. Traffic-related injuries are the number one cause of all injury deaths in the United States. There's some amazing national vehicle collision statistics: - every 9 minutes someone is injured in a traffic crash,
- every 13 minutes someone is killed,
- every hour someone dies because they weren't wearing a seat belt.
Don't be another American traffic statistic. Be safe when driving and make sure that every occupant in your vehicle, including yourself, is wearing a seat belt before you even start your engine.
